Wednesday June 18, 2008

PARIS, (June 18, 2008) – Following an international competition,ThalesRaytheonSystems has been awarded a contract by the Slovenian Ministry of Defense to supply two long-range air defense radar systems.

Under this contract, ThalesRaytheonSystems will supply two Ground Master 403 radars to the Slovenian Ministry of Defense. This new generation long-range air defense radar perfectly met Slovenia’s operational needs of procuring radars based on the most recent technology available on the market. The GM 403 radar will also provide the Slovenia Armed Forces with greatly optimized life cycle costs as well as a higher operational availability.

Part of the new high, medium and low-altitude fully digital GM 400 radar family, the GM 403 provides unmatched detection performances as well as outstanding operational availability. With an operational availability of greater than 99.9 percent and a mean time between critical failures of more than 3000 hours, the GM 400 is setting new standards in the air defense radar market.

The GM 403 has the capability to track highly maneuverable targets and tactical small radar cross-section aircraft flying at low or very low altitude. Due to its architecture, this radar can also be easily transported by air, sea, truck or rail, as it fits inside a single ISO 20-foot, 10-ton container.

“ThalesRaytheonSystems is proud that Slovenia has become the first European country to procure the GM 400 radar. We have developed an excellent working relationship with the Slovenian Ministry of Defense and are fully committed to delivering this important air defense capability,” said Hervé Multon, CEO of ThalesRaytheonSystems – French Operations.

ThalesRaytheonSystems will be present at Eurosatory 2008, in the Thales pavilion and chalet (A270) and the Raytheon pavilion (J120C).
