ThalesRaytheonSystems receives $13.1 million follow-on contract for U.S. Army AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel Radar Modernization Kits

FULLERTON, Calif., (Nov. 10, 2004). Thales RaytheonSystems (TRS) Company has been awarded a $13.1 million dollar firm-fixed price contract by the U.S. Army Air and Missile Command for the production and integration of more than 20 AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel Radar Modernization kits. The AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel Radar is a highly mobile, ground based, air defense radar that automatically detects, tracks, identifies, classifies and reports airborne targets to supporting weapons systems for engagements of hostile targets. The kits will provide the Sentinel Radars with increased detection and acquisition ranges, improved target classification and greater detection of smaller targets in both clear and cluttered environments. This is the second contract for modernization kits awarded to TRS in the past two years as the U.S. Army continues to move forward with implementation of its P3I (pre-planned product improvement) program for the Sentinel Radar.

ThalesRaytheonSystems develops SEROS large-scale military ATC system for Belgium

SEROS II (Semmerzake Radar Operating System # 2), Belgium’s new military air traffic control system, was officially inaugurated on Tuesday March 9, 2004. The system has been operating at the Semmerzake control center since October 2003, controlling military airspace over Belgium and Luxembourg—one of Europe’s densest air traffic regions.
Florako, the Swiss air forces’ new air defense and air operations command-and-control system, went live at the start of February.

The FLORAKO System entered operational service on 2 February after successfully completing final tests and operating in parallel alongside the old FLORIDA air defense system. FLORAKO is an all-new system comprising Master surveillance radars, a data and communication system, a new air picture generation and airspace management system, and new control Air Command and Control Center.
ThalesRaytheonSystems wins major contract in Indonesia

After a competitive bidding process, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense & Air forces have awarded ThalesRaytheonSystems a contract to supply a turnkey system that includes a radar, detection and control centre, and communications and power systems. The system will be based in eastern Indonesia.
