Thursday May 11, 2006

FULLERTON, Calif., (May 11, 2006) – ThalesRaytheonSystems will deliver an integrated air surveillance system to protect Mexico’s homeland and its oil production infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico. The contract was awarded to ThalesRaytheonSystems by the Mexican Navy and PEMEX-Exploración y Production. PEMEX, one of the United States’ largest oil suppliers, operates a large number of platforms, refineries and other petrochemical facilities in the Gulf.

ThalesRaytheonSystems will use its Sentry® command and control system to integrate mobile and fixed-site Sentinel radars and operations centers into an integrated air surveillance system. Commanders will get an interoperable, open-architecture command and control system that will help them protect Mexico’s homeland.

“ThalesRaytheonSystems will leverage advanced radar and air defense technology to deliver the most modern, capable homeland defense system for Mexico,” said Kim Kerry, chief executive officer of ThalesRaytheonSystems, U.S. operations. “We will work to assure the Navy’s success in its homeland security mission.”

The AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel Radar is a mobile, multi-function radar that surveils and tracks targets with 360° coverage. During ten years of performing battlefield and homeland defense missions, Sentinel has demonstrated its ability to track all types of airborne threats—fixed wing and rotary aircraft, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles—in extreme terrain, weather and electronic countermeasures. More than 180 Sentinels currently serve the U.S. military and several other nations.

The ThalesRaytheonSystems Sentry® command and control system provides air surveillance and air defense for many nations around the world.
