Martin Van Schaik is Vice-President for Missile Defense at ThalesRaytheonSystems.

Founded in June 2001, ThalesRaytheonSystems is the global defense industry’s only structural joint venture equally owned by two industry leaders, Thales and Raytheon.

With sales of $700M in 2005, over 80% of which were made internationally, the company is a worldwide leader in air defense command and control systems and ground-based radars.

The company’s 1400 employees are equally split between its two sites at Massy, near Paris, France and Fullerton, California, USA.As a member of the ThalesRaytheonSystems Leadership Team, Martin Van Schaik is responsible for the development of missile defense applications mostly focused on the ACCS LOC 1 system.

Prior to joining ThalesRaytheonSystems, Martin was Vice President, Director Battlespace Transformation Centre (BTC) at Thales Communications in Colombes, France.Before this he held various other positions within Thales Nederland’s Naval division, most recently as Director of the Joint C4ISR business line for the Communications Systems Business Group and as Director of the Combat Systems Business Unit.

In this role he was responsible for all combat system software development as well as weapon and sensors integration.He first joined Thales Nederland in 1986 and was quickly assigned the position of Regional Sales Manager and Program Manager of the Active Phased Array Radar (APAR) development program.

He received his further education in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
