Matt Pothecary is Vice-President of Communications for ThalesRaytheonSystems.
Founded in June 2001, ThalesRaytheonSystems is the global defense industry’s only structural joint venture equally owned by two industry leaders, Thales and Raytheon.
With sales of $700M in 2005, over 80% of which were made internationally, the company is a worldwide leader in air defense command and control systems and ground-based radars.
The company’s 1400 employees are equally split between its two sites at Massy, near Paris, France and Fullerton, California, USA.
As a member of the ThalesRaytheonSystems Leadership Team, Matt Pothecary is responsible for the worldwide communication activities of ThalesRaytheonSystems : media relations, public relations, internal communications, executive communications, trade shows and corporate events.
Prior to his current position, Pothecary worked in the Marketing and Communications department for the Services Business Line within the Thales Land and Joint Systems Division. He joined Thales in 2000 as Press Officer in the Corporate Communications department. In this role he took part in numerous key international projects including the creation of ThalesRaytheonSystems. He was responsible for coordinating strategic communication actions between Thales Corporate Communication, Thales UK and Thales North America
On leaving University, Pothecary, worked in France as an English language teacher in a French University, before joining XRT-CERG Finance as a technical writer and translator.
He received his bachelors degree in Political Science from Loughborough University before studying for his Masters Degree at l’Université de Nancy II. He was also awarded a M.Phil. in English and North American Studies from the same university in 1997.
