Bertrand de Fouchier is Senior Vice-President for Business Development at ThalesRaytheon Systems.

Founded in June 2001, ThalesRaytheonSystems is the global defense industry’s only structural joint venture equally owned by two industry leaders, Thales and Raytheon.

With sales of $700M in 2005, over 80% of which were made internationally, the company is a worldwide leader in air defense command and control systems,  and ground-based radars.

The company’s 1400 employees are equally split between its two sites at Massy, near Paris, France and Fullerton, California, USA.

As a member of the ThalesRaytheonSystems Leadership Team, Bertrand de Fouchier is responsible for Business Strategy, Marketing & Sales and Captures.

Prior to his current position, de Fouchier worked within Thales Land and Joint Division as Director of Key Account Countries, large projects and Business Group coordination for Thales International. Before this he was also Commercial Director of the Networks Business Line and Director of Business Development.

In his early career, de Fouchier held various positions in merchant banking and industry, in France and abroad (UK, Asia and Middle-East). In 1985, he joined Thales (formerly Thomson-CSF) where he worked as Vice-President for International Marketing and Sales in the Electronic Systems Division of Thales International North America and then in the Middle East Airborne Optronics Division. De Fouchier was also Project Leader of the Saudi Border Guards Development Project.

On leaving University, de Fouchier worked as a commercial attaché at the French Embassy in Manila.

He received his Bachelors degree in Economics from the Faculté de Paris Assas  in 1970. After which he went on to study for his Masters degree at l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris.
